  • Austrian Record Label Manufracture Music Releases Gothic Single “Transmutation” Featuring Valerian Steel and Enzo

Austrian Record Label Manufracture Music Releases Gothic Single “Transmutation” Featuring Valerian Steel and Enzo

Austrian artist Valerian Steel has released his new single “Transmutation” under his record label Manufracture Music.

“Transmutation” which also features Enzo, is a striking exploration at the intercession of Darkwave, EBM, Gothic, and Industrial soundscapes.

The new track pushes the boundaries of human-machine tension.

“Transmutation” delves deep into the paradox of progress: The song (and video) describes the race between technology created by humans for humans and the technology turning against them. Humanity risks losing the race.

This lyrical tension is amplified through layers of haun6ng synthesizers, driving industrial beats, and Enzo’s evocative vocals: a voice already familiar to Manufracture Music fans from standout performances on “Ghosts” and two tracks from the debut album “Fractured Empires.”

The piano’s slightly off-sync phrasing aims to give a dreamy, drowsy sway, creating a psychedelic lounge atmosphere that’s both playful and disorienting.

“That was the intent in any case,” explains Mark. “With a simple melody to convey the introspective nature of such moment.

“Lazy Song” is part of a short EP, Walks, gathering three different styles of instrumental songs, all inspired by the ‘inner life’ idea, i.e. reproducing the world in thoughts, through Introspection, Solitude, Meditation… on Desires, Regrets, Acceptance, Nostalgia.. there are many aspects of it, making spirituality, Music being its natural language.

The second song in the EP is “Walking in the City”.

“Walking is known as one of the best remedies to evacuate dark thoughts and get back to a positive inner vision of the external world. I live near Paris. I walk a lot in the city that communicates its energy and beauty.”

The third title is called “Inner Life”, about prayer.

With Crown & Altar, South African doctor, entrepreneur, and creative visionary Dr. Chad Marthinussen opens a new chapter in his passion project, Kings x Priests.

Where earlier works carried the driving energy of Afro-house and Amapiano, this record slows down. It breathes. It lingers. Built on Afrobeats, chill-wave textures, and intimate African rhythms, Crown & Altar still carries the pulse of the dancefloor — but with a gentler power, an energy that uplifts, heals, and praises.

  • “Wizkid, Asake and Shallipopi Inspire Me”- Slay Papa

“Wizkid, Asake and Shallipopi Inspire Me”- Slay Papa

As part of our About to Blow series we will be highlighting talented creatives in our Afrobeats Head community who are igniting the scene and poised for stardom.

For the first edition I  spoke to Slay Papa, an artist who’s childhood dream as a devout Catholic was to become a priest but by divine intervention ended up studying Theater Arts at the University of Benin.

“My secondary school was a minor seminary,” he tells me over the phone.

“I believed it was Gods plan for me but I wrote a letter to a letter to Claritians about attending a major seminary after secondary school and they never got back to me. Then I became anxious about getting into university.

“During Benediction, whenever the monstrance was raised I would pray to God to help me get into university if it was his will. And if not, let me get into a major seminary.

A real lover boy, the Ibadan-native got his stage name thanks to his popularity with the girls in a neighboring secondary school.

“My friend Clement TYB and I used to pay 300 Naira record love songs at a studio close to our school and sent them to the girls in another school. I had a lot of female friends on Facebook so my friends called me Slay King and later I became Slay Papa

His dilemma meant that he was the last of his classmates to register for the UME exams but was surprisingly the first to be accepted into the university.

While in school his music took a back seat and until he graduated in 2024 when he released his song “Sport” inspired by Asake’s “Skating” off his Lungu Boy album

“I wrote it on a trip to Abeokuta. My friend Jumabee invited me and I just spent a lot of time checking out beats on YouTube till I found the perfect one.

“It’s a reminder to myself that I need to keep moving forward in life. I can’t be stagnant. Just like Asake in “Skating”

Slay Papa and Jumabee are also working on a new song to be released “soon”

    Slay Papa’s Top Three:

    1. Influences:  Wizkid, Asake and Shallipopi
    2. Dream collaborations: Wizkid, Asake and Shallipopi
    3. Dream venues to perform in: The 02, The Royal Albert Hall and The Wembley Stadium

Slay Papa and is confident that his music will change his life

“My greatest wish is for my music to take me around the world.”

He also has a mantra which he lives by and emphasizes on all his songs.

Before we end the call he  makes me promise to include it my article.

    “Slay Papa never dies.”

American Artist RAUSCH Honours Ozzy Osbourne with Piano Cover of “Mama, I’m Coming Home”

As part of the rollout for his third album, Philadelphia-based artist RAUSCH has issued a solo piano covers series highlighting some of his key influences.

Artists represented in this round of single releases have included Queen, Pink Floyd, Guns N’Roses, and the darker side of Billy Joel.

This 9th and final installment pays tribute to the Prince of Darkness, Ozzy Osbourne.

“I think the reason Ozzy Osbourne’s death hit me as hard as it did (for someone I never met) is because, above all else, he always seemed real,” says RAUSCH.

“People have long pointed out a darkness in some of my songwriting – “owning it,” as my therapist likes to say! – and I’ve only recently realized that it’s Ozzy himself whose lyrical voice really helped pave the way for embracing such psychological sincerity through (my) music.”

He added: “Seems neither of us knew any other way – only difference is I’ve never bitten into a bat, snorted ants, or p*ssed on the Alamo…

“As for the Ozzy selection? I was really tempted to go with lesser-known near-and-dear-to-my-heart favorites (“Old L.A. Tonight,” or the late-career gem “Ordinary Man”), but truth be told, I do in this case feel just as deeply moved by that which is most widely known: “Mama, I’m Coming Home.”

  • Emmy Award Winner Dustin O’Halloran Shares Piano Solo Single “Red” off his Forthcoming EP ‘The Chromatic Sessions’

Emmy Award Winner Dustin O’Halloran Shares Piano Solo Single “Red” off his Forthcoming EP ‘The Chromatic Sessions’

American artist and Emmy Award winner, Dustin O’Halloran has released a new single entitled “Red”

An improvised piano piece recorded in a single take in his Reykjavík studio, it’s the second of three tracks that will form The Chromatic Sessions EP.

“Red” is a partner piece to Gold — released in July — with a final chromatic track called “Blue” set to follow.

The theme of colours emerged organically during the process of writing and recording. “It wasn’t something pre-planned,” says Dustin, who has also been nominated for an Academy Award. “I was improvising on the piano every day, and I realised I was always thinking about colours as I wrote. When you have the mic set up and you’re recording, it puts you into deep focus. There’s something about that red light being on that really pulls you into the moment.”

O’Halloran has long experienced synaesthesia — a mingling of the senses that may sound familiar to many. It can be something as simple as a taste snapping us back to a place we’ve been, a familiar scent triggering a powerful emotional flashback, or — in Dustin’s case — a certain sound evoking the feeling of a colour.

“I believe that people are more synesthetic than they realise,” he says. “It’s something that you can tune into. All sensations are ultimately translated in the brain — and I think you can learn to connect different parts of those sensations together.”

Such connections are a theme that runs through The Chromatic Sessions — including the connection between Dustin and his audience. All of the Chromatic singles come with downloadable sheet music when bought on Bandcamp, allowing listeners to play the music themselves.

It’s a gesture born of O’Halloran’s wish to forge a closer relationship with his listeners.

“Releasing music digitally feels so distant and disconnected,” he says. “And I think we’re all looking for connection. When people get involved in playing the music, it becomes part of them in a different way. It becomes communal. It becomes theirs.”

  • Tiwa Savage and Don Julio Host Star-Studded Bash to Celebrate Her ‘This One Is Personal’ Album at the Library Lagos

Tiwa Savage and Don Julio Host Star-Studded Bash to Celebrate Her ‘This One Is Personal’ Album at the Library Lagos

Tiwa Savage and Don Julio tequila hosted a release party at swanky Lagos nightclub The Library to celebrate her new album This One Is Personal.

The album recently debuted at number one on the iTunes UK R&B/Soul Albums chart and #18 on the UK HipHop/R&B Albums chart.

I’ve loved Tiwa Savage since I first watched the “Kele Kele Love” in my uncle’s living room in Abuja in 2011 so when her team reached out to ask if I’d like to attend the event I was like of course!

Once at  The Library Lagos I was greeted by a beautiful young lady who offered me ice cold water and a Don Julio cocktail.

She asked me to knock on a tiny door and a hand reached out with my ice cold cocktail.

Once inside The Library Lagos the music was hitting and the performances were amazing but Tiwa Savage arrived about an hour later and the energy went from good to great.

She was joined by Taves, Shine TTW, her PR Manager Vanessa Amadi, Simi Badiru of TRACE and other members of her team.

We spent all night dancing to her songs- both classics like “Kele Kele Love” “Eminado” “Love Me”  “Diet” “Loaded” and new ones from the new album like “You4Me” “On The Low” “Holding It Down” and more and like the hypeman kept reminding us, it was hit after hit after hit.

Other celebrities like Uti Nwachukwu, Jay Jay Okocha Flavour N’Abania were also there to support her.

Tiwa Savage was in high spirits, as she danced and passed out shots of Don Julio around.

The night finally ended at around 4 am. I was so tired but I’d had the time of my life.

    A 10 over 10 night for real.

  • Is Llona The New Face of Emo-Afrobeats?

Is Llona The New Face of Emo-Afrobeats?

    By Ibeh Fortune Chidinma

In a genre dominated by celebration, Llona positions himself not as a party-starter, but as a preacher of introspection. He draws on pain and trauma from his experiences within his nomadic community, offering a form of musical self-therapy.

While his message is potent, its consistent solemnity may limit his commercial reach—a trade-off that arguably strengthens his artistic authenticity. His music delivers a piercing resonance, a reflection so potent it makes the hairs on your skin stand on end.

His recent release, “Dead Flowers,” solidifies his place among Afrobeats‘ growing emotional voices. The track is a vital contribution to an expanding “afro-emotion” subgenre. Llona frames himself as a change agent, singing, “I believe / yes, I believed / I will build a future that’s just not for me / take away the chaos, advocate for peace.” He emphasizes an internal competition, needing no external validation: “I don’t care who is next / not the reason that I’m here.”

This is more than an expression of past pain; it’s a declaration of arrival. He signals a readiness to reveal the “hidden Super Star” he has realized he is.

This artistic identity was forged in his debut album, “Homeless,” which marked him as a distinctly introspective voice. The project expressed vulnerability, struggle, and resilience, often using dark humor to navigate despair. In “Still Scared,” he sings, “stuck in the place where they can’t save us… running and running like a stray dog / death is the only thing that saves us.”

Llona is actively building the foundation to become the face of “Emo-Afrobeats.” A key strategy is his ambitious “Homeless” nationwide tour, a rarity in the Nigerian music scene due to significant economic and logistical challenges. While major artists often focus solely on commercial hubs, Llona leveraged this tour to connect with the grassroots, performing in cities like Ogbomosho, Benin, Lokoja, Awka, Owerri, Lafia and Abeokuta. This grassroots focus builds a dedicated fandom and gives audiences what they yearn for “to see artists perform live”.

His music might not be “party flow,” but it speaks to the everyday Nigerian’s reality. The “Homeless” tour has skyrocketed his listenership, proving that his message of vulnerability and self-found therapy is not just artistically sound, but a viable path to building a legacy. Llona is a phenom to watch, potentially steering clear of his peers by forging one of the most strong, connected fandoms in the industry.
