Kitan explores love, regret and redemption on “Mosunmola”

Nigerian independent artist Kitan has released “Mosunmola,” a melodic Afrobeats record that brings together contemporary production with Fuji and Highlife influences.

At 115 BPM, the song follows a man attempting to reconnect with a woman he loves after mistakes have driven them apart. Through conversational lyrics and smooth melodies, “Mosunmola” explores missed calls, pride, regret and the hope of rebuilding a relationship.

Rather than focusing solely on heartbreak, the song centres on accountability and the desire to regain trust. Sung across English, Pidgin and Yoruba, it combines a personal relationship story with the Yoruba vocal textures that form part of Kitan’s musical identity.

The record draws from the storytelling tradition of Afrobeats while incorporating Fuji-inspired vocals and Highlife melodies. This combination gives “Mosunmola” a nostalgic quality while keeping its production rooted in a contemporary Afrobeats sound.

Kitan is an independent Nigerian artist whose music blends Fuji-inspired vocals, Highlife melodies and contemporary Afrobeats. His songwriting draws on real-life experiences while exploring African identity and relationships.

“Mosunmola” is available now on major streaming platforms.
