Nigerian artist Tdooooo explores loss, hardship and emotional struggle on his latest Afrobeats release, “Booze.”
Dedicated to his late uncle, the song draws from experiences of grief and the difficulties surrounding mental, emotional, financial and spiritual struggles. Alcohol features prominently in the story, but the track approaches it as a coping mechanism rather than something to celebrate.
Musically, “Booze” combines contemporary Afrobeats and Afro-fusion with melodic vocals and emotionally driven songwriting. Tdooooo uses the song to examine the ways people can respond to difficult circumstances when they feel they have run out of options.
Despite its subject matter, the song ultimately leaves room for the possibility of finding a way forward through difficult periods.

Nigerian artist Brodrick has released “CHAT”, an Afro Drill track exploring betrayal, conflict and reconciliation within a relationship.
Released on June 19, the song appears on Brodrick’s debut album Tales Untold and draws from an experience in his own life. The lyrics follow a relationship affected by cheating and the attempt to rebuild trust after the resulting conflict.
“CHAT” combines Afro-influenced songwriting and language with UK Drill production. Brodrick’s melodic delivery sits against the darker rhythmic character of the production, reflecting the musical influences he encountered after relocating abroad at an early age.
The track was produced by Prodbyzawn and Prodbygravey, with Brodrick credited as the songwriter.
“Tales Untold” is built around stories drawn from Brodrick’s experiences and perspective. Before beginning his own music career, he worked as a road manager for Nigerian artist 1da Banton before releasing his own music.
