Ghanaian-American artist Charley-A has released a heartfelt new song titled Ayekoo (A Song for Mom), a personal tribute to his late mother and a broader salute to mothers everywhere.
“Ayekoo,” a Ghanaian expression used to congratulate someone for a job well done, frames the emotional core of the track.
The song was inspired by a family gathering in 2023, when Charley-A and his siblings came together to remember their mother 28 years after her burial, sharing memories filled with both laughter and grief.
The record reflects on love, loss, and gratitude, while also acknowledging the emotional and mental strength of mothers who carry the weight of caregiving and family life. Through the song, Charley-A extends appreciation to women everywhere who take on the role of raising and nurturing children.
