    “File” combines Afrobeats rhythms with a street-influenced sound, with the repeated phrase giving the song its main lyrical refrain.

    Monite is best known for “Only You,” his 1984 cult classic which has remained a reference point in Nigerian pop music and was later covered by Frank Ocean. “Shake Your Booty” comes from the same period of Monite’s catalogue.

    The new version, titled “Shake Your Booty (Aruhtra & Deeprule Remix),” brings together Monite with producers Aruhtra and Deeprule.

    Hyron Wolff Explores Afro House, Afro Tech and 3-Step on Wild Instincts II

    Angolan DJ and producer Hyron Wolff has released Wild Instincts II, a five-track EP that moves between Afro House, Afro Tech and 3-Step.

    Released through Wolff’s independent label, Alkateia Records, the project explores themes including love, connection and instinct. The songs incorporate vocals in African languages alongside electronic production built around sub-bass, percussion and atmospheric textures.

    The EP opens with “Ngiyakuthanda,” featuring Kerry Assis, followed by “Born To Be Wild.” “Lerato,” featuring Tsimo, “Control” and “Prophecy” complete the five-track project.

    Across the EP, Wolff moves between the warmer textures of Afro House and the more driving rhythms of Afro Tech and 3-Step, while maintaining a connection to African vocal and rhythmic traditions.

    Wolff is based in Portugal, where he also runs Alkateia Records. His work spans Afro House and other forms of contemporary African electronic music.

    Miraz Tha Great describes the song as an attempt to bring together elements of West African and Southern African dance music. “Music is a universal language, and with ‘Shayo,’ I wanted to create a bridge between genres that naturally move people,” he says.

    The London-based independent artist and producer works across Afrobeats, Amapiano and Afro-fusion, incorporating African rhythms with contemporary electronic and club influences.

    Drax Africa Releases “Don’t Vex,” a Song About Staying Positive

    Drax Africa has released “Don’t Vex,” a new Afro-fusion track that addresses the need to remain positive in the face of negativity.

    The song combines Afrobeats and dancehall influences, with a groove-led arrangement and melodic vocals. Its central message is straightforward: not allowing negative situations or other people’s opinions to take away from one’s outlook.

    “Don’t Vex” comes from Zambian twin brothers Golden Mumba and Kelvin Mumba, who perform as Drax Africa. Born in Luanshya and raised in Kitwe in Zambia’s Copperbelt Province, the brothers draw from a range of styles including Afrobeats, Afropop, dancehall, Zamrock, EDM and pop.

    The release arrives ahead of the duo’s debut album, “Afro In Space: Gravity,” which is scheduled for July 24, 2026. The album is set to feature collaborations with artists from Zambia, Congo and Nigeria, including Jamaican dancehall artist General Degree.

    Drax Africa previously won Best Indie Track globally and in Africa at the 2021 Djooky Music Awards for “Turn Around.”

    Berryhud Releases R&B/Soul Single “Journey Not Funny”

    Berryhud has released a new single, “Journey Not Funny,” an R&B/Soul song that reflects on the difficulties involved in pursuing success.

    The track sits within the Nigerian independent artist’s broader catalogue, which includes “Money on My Mind” featuring American singer T-Rell, “Alubarika,” “Imagine” and “Time.” While Berryhud’s music also draws from Afrobeats and Amapiano, “Journey Not Funny” takes a more R&B/Soul-oriented approach.

    Born Arowosola Toba Victor, Berryhud began making music at 23, initially recording songs on his phone while learning production and beat-making. He now releases music independently through his label, Behood Movic.

    His songwriting frequently touches on ambition, financial growth, faith, relationships and the challenges of trying to build a career from the ground up.

    Those themes also inform “Journey Not Funny,” whose title points to the less straightforward side of that process.
