Nigerian-American Artist Ib-Kay Might Be The New “Odogwu” of Afrobeats

Burna Boy, probably one of the greatest Afrobeats artists ever, has a number of nicknames.

But “Odogwu” an Igbo word meaning “hero” “leader” or “great man” also the title of his 2020 single celebrating Igbo culture, is unarguably his favourite.

The nickname which aligns perfectly with consistent projection of confidence, pride in his African heritage and  larger-than-life persona started gaining traction around 2019 following the success of his “African Giant” album.

But it seems like another Afrobeats artist is coming for Burna’s “Odogwu” title.

Nigerian American singer and songwriter Ib-Kay’s new single of the same is a high-energy Afrobeat track that embodies the essence of the genre with its vibrant rhythms and infectious beats.
