    Nigerian American Artist Kate Odulukwe Shares Burna Boy and Tiwa Savage-Inspired Single “BURNING”

    Nigerian-American artist Kate Odulukwe returns with a bold Afrofusion single “BURNING.”

    Inspired by the current global wave of Afrobeats artists like Burna Boy and Davido, and the foundation built by women like Tiwa Savage, BURNING reflects Kate’s desire to both honor and evolve the sound. 

    Built around the mantra “they no fit quench that fire,” BURNING captures the vibe of being outside at night, fully present, confident, and completely unbothered. 

    The accompanying video, shot across Harlem in New York City at night, bring this feeling to life. Together, the video and song reflect her dual identity, carved in Nigeria and crafted in NYC.

    “This song is inspired by a fun night out in Lagos, though I shot it in NYC. It’s about a feeling more than anything,” Kate explains. “It’s that moment when you’re outside, the vibe and everything is just right, and nothing can touch you. You’re locked in, you’re lit, and you’re not letting anything get in the way of that. That’s what BURNING is.”

    The nominees for the 2026 American Music Awards have been announced with Burna Boy, Wizkid, Tyla, Rema and MOLIY scoring nominations.

    Tyla is the most nominated Afrobeats artist this year. She’s up four awards including Best Afrobeats Artist, Best Social Song of the Year and Best Music Video of the Year both for “Chanel” and Best R& B Female Artist. 

    Burna Boy has two nominations including Best Afrobeats Artist and Best Hip Hop Song for his contribution to Gunna’s “wgft”

    Nigerian-American artist Shaboozey is also nominated in three categories including Collaboration of the Year, Best Male Country Artist and Best Country Song for “Goodnews”

    The 52nd American Music Awards will take place on Monday, May 25th in Las Vegas.

    Grammy award-winning artist Burna Boy has shared the track list for his new album No Sign of Weakness which come out on Friday 11th of July.

    The 16-track project will feature British music legend Sir Mick Jagger of 1960s band, Rolling Stones, Shaboozey, Belgina rapper Stromae and rapper Travis Scott who collaborated with Burna on “Ta Ta Ta” an already released single from the album.

    No Sign of Weakness will be Burna Boy’s eight studio album.

    But “Odogwu” an Igbo word meaning “hero” “leader” or “great man” also the title of his 2020 single celebrating Igbo culture, is unarguably his favourite.

    But it seems like another Afrobeats artist is coming for Burna’s “Odogwu” title.
