BIDEX Dasolechild draws on Nigerian party culture in “Tungba”

UK-based Nigerian Afrobeats artist BIDEX Dasolechild explores the communal spirit of Nigerian celebrations on “Tungba”, a track inspired by the rhythms and atmosphere of social gatherings.

Drawing on the Yoruba musical and cultural expression associated with Tungba, the song centres on dancing, percussion and the shared experience of celebrating. Its theme reflects the role of music at Nigerian weddings, parties and other social occasions, where rhythm and movement bring people together.

Born Abidemi Ashaolu, BIDEX is based in Scotland and draws on his Nigerian heritage in his music, which incorporates Afrobeats, Amapiano and Afro-fusion influences. His catalogue also includes “You Too Fine”, which explores romance and attraction, “Iyalaya Swagger”, centred on confidence and individuality, and “Free Madness (Sewere)”, a dance-focused release.

BIDEX has performed at events across Scotland, including the AfroScot Festival in Edinburgh and the Refugee Festival in Glasgow. His performance credits also include shows featuring Ruger, Falz, Darkoo, 9ice, Seriki and Chudi K in Glasgow, as well as the Scotland Piano Tour.

His music has accumulated more than 100,000 Spotify streams. “Free Madness (Sewere)” has received reviews from Illustrate Magazine, The Musical Road and Teethsound, alongside a mention in Wordplay Magazine. In 2026, he was nominated for Creative of the Year at the Black Scottish Awards.

On September 17, 2026, BIDEX received Arts Council England endorsement under the Global Talent visa’s Exceptional Promise route in Music, specialising in Afrobeats and Amapiano.
