Nigerian Afrobeats artist Abayomi is making his debut with a new single titled “Chakam” a soulful, mid-tempo record about the bittersweet emotions of love and loss.
The song is named after Chakam the popular evidence-gathering social media trend, an onomatopoeic expression for the sound of a camera shutter
It involves taking pictures (Chakam) of a statement by someone to prevent them from reneging on their word or breaking their promise in the future
“You say you love me. I get evidence o. Chakam,” Abayomi boasts on the chorus.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, ABA¥OMI shares, “Chakam is my truth—a story of love, passion, and the pain of letting go. I wanted to create something that not only makes people move but also touches their hearts. This song is for anyone who’s ever loved deeply and had to heal from the pieces left behind.”
