Nigerian American Artist Kate Odulukwe Shares Burna Boy and Tiwa Savage-Inspired Single “BURNING”

Nigerian-American artist Kate Odulukwe returns with a bold Afrofusion single “BURNING.”

Inspired by the current global wave of Afrobeats artists like Burna Boy and Davido, and the foundation built by women like Tiwa Savage, BURNING reflects Kate’s desire to both honor and evolve the sound.

Built around the mantra “they no fit quench that fire,” BURNING captures the vibe of being outside at night, fully present, confident, and completely unbothered.

The accompanying video, shot across Harlem in New York City at night, bring this feeling to life. Together, the video and song reflect her dual identity, carved in Nigeria and crafted in NYC.

“This song is inspired by a fun night out in Lagos, though I shot it in NYC. It’s about a feeling more than anything,” Kate explains. “It’s that moment when you’re outside, the vibe and everything is just right, and nothing can touch you. You’re locked in, you’re lit, and you’re not letting anything get in the way of that. That’s what BURNING is.”

“BURNING” by Kate Odulukwe is out now on all streaming platforms.

Nigerian-American Artist Kate Odulukwe Releases New Single, “Ezewa”- A Bold Afrobeats Track Where She Confidently Introduces An Igbo-Inspired Name She’s Claimed  for Herself.

Nigerian-American Artist Kate Odulukwe is making a bold declaration on her new single titled “Ezewa” a word she coined for herself based on the word “Eze” which means “king” in Igbo.

Her pride in her Igbo heritage is evident from the song cover in which she’s pictured wearing a cloth headband made from the traditional Isi-Agu (Lion Head) fabric

Drawing inspiration from the likes of Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage and Rema, Kate’s self-assurance takes center stage on the track.

According to Kate, her sound embodies a new era of Afrobeats charged by Afro-diasporic music. It’s a fusion that’s become her signature—mixing global sounds with a strong cultural voice.

The accompanying music video further celebrates herself as well the combination of her New York background and Nigerian heritage.
