  • French Composer  Mark J SOLER Shares New Instrumental “Lazy song” off his ‘Walks’ EP

French Composer  Mark J SOLER Shares New Instrumental “Lazy song” off his ‘Walks’ EP

French  Musician and composer Mark J SOLER  has released a new single ‘Lazy Song’, a three-minute instrumental piece inspired by relaxing moments, conducive to inner thoughts, and of course Music as the conductor toward a form of ‘spirituality’.

“Lazy Song” was composed, played, and produced to sound like a slightly hypnotic jazz groove, deliberately laid back, like time stretching out over a solitary, quiet evening. The piano’s slightly off-sync phrasing aims to give a dreamy, drowsy sway, creating a psychedelic lounge atmosphere that’s both playful and disorienting.

“That was the intent in any case,” explains Mark. “With a simple melody to convey the introspective nature of such moment.

“Lazy Song” is part of a short EP, Walks, gathering three different styles of instrumental songs, all inspired by the ‘inner life’ idea, i.e. reproducing the world in thoughts, through Introspection, Solitude, Meditation… on Desires, Regrets, Acceptance, Nostalgia.. there are many aspects of it, making spirituality, Music being its natural language.

The second song in the EP is “Walking in the City”.

“Walking is known as one of the best remedies to evacuate dark thoughts and get back to a positive inner vision of the external world. I live near Paris. I walk a lot in the city that communicates its energy and beauty.”

The third title is called “Inner Life”, about prayer.

  • Emmy Award Winner Dustin O’Halloran Shares Piano Solo Single “Red” off his Forthcoming EP ‘The Chromatic Sessions’

Emmy Award Winner Dustin O’Halloran Shares Piano Solo Single “Red” off his Forthcoming EP ‘The Chromatic Sessions’

American artist and Emmy Award winner, Dustin O’Halloran has released a new single entitled “Red”

An improvised piano piece recorded in a single take in his Reykjavík studio, it’s the second of three tracks that will form The Chromatic Sessions EP.

“Red” is a partner piece to Gold — released in July — with a final chromatic track called “Blue” set to follow.

The theme of colours emerged organically during the process of writing and recording. “It wasn’t something pre-planned,” says Dustin, who has also been nominated for an Academy Award. “I was improvising on the piano every day, and I realised I was always thinking about colours as I wrote. When you have the mic set up and you’re recording, it puts you into deep focus. There’s something about that red light being on that really pulls you into the moment.”

O’Halloran has long experienced synaesthesia — a mingling of the senses that may sound familiar to many. It can be something as simple as a taste snapping us back to a place we’ve been, a familiar scent triggering a powerful emotional flashback, or — in Dustin’s case — a certain sound evoking the feeling of a colour.

“I believe that people are more synesthetic than they realise,” he says. “It’s something that you can tune into. All sensations are ultimately translated in the brain — and I think you can learn to connect different parts of those sensations together.”

Such connections are a theme that runs through The Chromatic Sessions — including the connection between Dustin and his audience. All of the Chromatic singles come with downloadable sheet music when bought on Bandcamp, allowing listeners to play the music themselves.

It’s a gesture born of O’Halloran’s wish to forge a closer relationship with his listeners.

“Releasing music digitally feels so distant and disconnected,” he says. “And I think we’re all looking for connection. When people get involved in playing the music, it becomes part of them in a different way. It becomes communal. It becomes theirs.”

Then comes The Other Side, a luminous love song in English — a moment of warmth and intimacy where two souls mirror one another beyond time and borders. The trumpet of Julien Mercier runs parallel to the melody, like a distant signal, never overpowering, always present.

UK Afrobeats Artist Olorunfemi Shares “Díónì” — A Space-Driven Track  from His ‘Saturn’ EP

UK-based Afrobeats artist and sonic explorer Olorunfemi continues to expand his celestial discography with “Díónì”, one of the most soulful tracks off his 2023 Saturn EP.

  • Ugoccie drops her “Voice of the East” EP

Ugoccie drops her “Voice of the East” EP

Ugoccie has swiftly unveiled her sophomore EP, aptly titled “Voice of the East” (VOTE).

The new release comes after her debut EP “Piece Of Me” which provides a fascinating look into the thrilling and wide-ranging future of her career and exceptional talent

Ugoccie, emerging as a force in the Nigerian music industry and gaining recognition and captivating the culturally appealing soundscape scored a great point from the choice of the title, “Voice of the East” (VOTE) EP, as a deliberate nod to her self-ascribed identity to unleash the power of the East through the EP.

This EP, just like her debut, demonstrates her artistic prowess and once again exhibits her distinctive musical identity that projects and extols praises of the richness of African culture, particularly the eastern part of Nigeria.

The VOTE EP is an impressive collection of five tracks, each crafted precisely. Ugoccie continues to impress her audience with her unique sound and compelling lyrics. The EP also features noteworthy guest appearances from Onitsha-born siblings Umu Obiligbo adding an extra layer of brilliance to the project with the kind of production provided by Endeetones (Beatlord)

    Tracks Synopsis

    ISIMGBAKA

ISIMGBAKA in Igbo means madness or someone who is not mentally okay. The song Isimgbaka starts off the VOICE OF THE EAST EP with a story of betrayal and how life always comes back at people who want to hurt others who have been nothing but good to them. It tells the story of a hustler who kept sending money home to her family but never got value for all the money she sent.

The moral of isimgbaka is never to hurt someone who has done you good. Only a mad person would do that

    ỤWA feat. Umuobiligbo

The chorus of Ụwa is born from an ancient Igbo folklore that depicts that we are all beautiful in our way and that no one should take the world’s opinions seriously as people will always have something to say.

Ugochi and Umuobiligbo came together to create a masterpiece that would leave every listener glued from start to finish.

Ụwa means “world” in Igbo and the title is honed from the fact that the world will never be satisfied with whatever you do. Do you at the end of the day

    ỌGỌ M

Ọgọ in Igbo means “kindness” or “charity” depending on the context and in this track, ugochi details how we live in a world where people have no conscience and would most likely repay an act of kindness with insubordination or wickedness.

A popular Igbo adage says “ọgọ m, egbuna m” which translates to “may my kindness not kill me”.

This is basically all Ugochi says in the song.

That our kind deeds will not be the end of us.

    A masterpiece

    EZI ENYI

Ezi Enyi in Igbo means (good friend)

In this story, Ugochi tells the story of how her friend tried to take a man that she loves from her which is very typical in the world that we live in. Every melody resonates with the listener for this particular one.

    MARANMA

In Igbo land when things are good, we say “Ife Nile mara nma”. Which means that Things are going smoothly in essence. To crown this beautiful storytelling in her VOICE OF THE EAST EP, Ugoccie fuses amampiano with the Igbo flute to conjure this dance hall vibe that would still leave you rooted in the culture but swaying your hips in endless bliss. Maranma is the jam that takes you to the club after a long day of stress

Note: all the songs in Voice of the East ep have Igbo titles. Ugochi came all out for the culture in the most beautiful way possible

The VOTE EP is an intentional storytelling EP that brings a new spice to the kind of music Ugoccie makes. INTENTIONAL

STORY-TELLING MELODIES. The EP is inspired by life events and stories that have happened in real-time.

    Quote

“There’s no truer art than believing in yourself and bringing your seat to a table where the seats are all taken”

“Stay true to your art, no one understands it better than you”
