    VOS has released “JABULA,” an Afro House track built around a four-on-the-floor rhythm, log drums, shakers, hand percussion and a rolling bassline.

    The song uses Zulu-inspired call-and-response vocals, with the word “jabula” meaning “to be happy” or “to rejoice” in Zulu. The vocal arrangement moves from a lead chant into a repeated refrain that is answered by a crowd.

    The accompanying music video follows a group of dancers across a single night, beginning with one person dancing alone before gradually bringing more people into the scene. The video was created, produced and visually directed by VOS.

    Aruhtra and Deeprule Share Afro House Remix of Steve Monite’s “Shake Your Booty”

    Aruhtra and Deeprule have released an Afro House remix of Steve Monite’s “Shake Your Booty,” reworking the Nigerian artist’s original with a contemporary electronic production.

    The remix retains Monite’s vocal performance while introducing rolling percussion, bass-heavy rhythms and warm synths. The production shifts the song toward Afro House, giving the original a more club-oriented arrangement.

    Monite is best known for “Only You,” his 1984 cult classic which has remained a reference point in Nigerian pop music and was later covered by Frank Ocean. “Shake Your Booty” comes from the same period of Monite’s catalogue.

    The new version, titled “Shake Your Booty (Aruhtra & Deeprule Remix),” brings together Monite with producers Aruhtra and Deeprule.

    Hyron Wolff Explores Afro House, Afro Tech and 3-Step on Wild Instincts II

    Angolan DJ and producer Hyron Wolff has released Wild Instincts II, a five-track EP that moves between Afro House, Afro Tech and 3-Step.

    Released through Wolff’s independent label, Alkateia Records, the project explores themes including love, connection and instinct. The songs incorporate vocals in African languages alongside electronic production built around sub-bass, percussion and atmospheric textures.

    The EP opens with “Ngiyakuthanda,” featuring Kerry Assis, followed by “Born To Be Wild.” “Lerato,” featuring Tsimo, “Control” and “Prophecy” complete the five-track project.

    Across the EP, Wolff moves between the warmer textures of Afro House and the more driving rhythms of Afro Tech and 3-Step, while maintaining a connection to African vocal and rhythmic traditions.

    Wolff is based in Portugal, where he also runs Alkateia Records. His work spans Afro House and other forms of contemporary African electronic music.
