Cape Verdean Singer Josslyn Releases Women’s Empowerment Anthem  “Baby Mama”

Cape Verdean singer Josslyn has released her latest single, “Baby Mama” — an intense, melodic kizomba track about a woman choosing peace, self-love, and freedom.

The song arrives with a visualizer filmed in São Vicente, Cape Verde, directed by the Kriol Box collective and produced by Débora Melício.

“Nka kre ser bo baby mama” (“I don’t want to be your baby mama”) is not an attack — it’s a choice. It’s a declaration from someone who refuses to remain in a space that no longer reflects who she is.

“I wrote this song at a time when I needed to remind myself that I deserve better. That we, as women, deserve better. That we have the right to say no, to walk away, to start again. This song is about that — knowing our worth and choosing what’s good for us,” says Josslyn.

Josslyn is also set to  make her film debut in the Angolan movie “Maldito Amor”, the country’s first horror feature film. She stars alongside acclaimed actor Sílvio Nascimento.

  • Belgian Artist Lynvy Shares Remix of “Alive” by Ocin J

Belgian Artist Lynvy Shares Remix of “Alive” by Ocin J

Following the Afro-dance vibrancy of his single Worami, Belgium-based producer Lynvy returns with a dynamic new take on French artist Ocin J’s emotive track Alive, originally released on March 1, 2024, by French label Orange Machine.

Now reimagined through the lens of liquid Drum and Bass, Alive (Lynvy Remix) marks Lynvy’s first official remix—and a milestone moment in his journey as a music producer.

”I wanted to explore something completely new,” says Lynvy. “I’d been drawn to the emotional intensity of liquid DnB for a while, and Alive had that perfect core energy I felt I could evolve into something hopeful yet driving.”

The remix stays true to Ocin J’s evocative original while adding Lynvy’s signature touch: a Reese bassline, distorted lead, and classic break-driven drums that bring both movement and melodic warmth. Clocking in at 2 minutes and 45 seconds, the remix finds the sweet spot between radio-ready accessibility and underground energy.

”It’s exciting to see Alive take on a new life in the DnB space,” adds Ocin J. “Lynvy’s remix adds a completely different energy while staying emotionally true. That’s what a great remix does—it transforms without betraying.”

The remix came to life through Music We Trust, the artist collective co-founded by Lynvy and home to both emerging and established names in the electronic scene. “Music We Trust isn’t just a name—it’s a belief in the power of community,” explains Lynvy. “The connection with Ocin J happened through the collective, and it really embodies the spirit of creative collaboration we’re trying to foster.”

With over 200,000 total plays across platforms like Boomplay and Audiomack, Lynvy is quickly making his mark in the electronic music scene. This new remix fits seamlessly into genres such as liquid Drum and Bass, melodic electronic, and emotional DnB, appealing to listeners who enjoy immersive and genre-crossing productions.

“I spent weeks experimenting with different bass textures and atmospheric layers,” says Lynvy. “The hardest part was modernizing the sound without losing the soul of the original. The Reese bassline brought urgency, but I made sure to balance that with warmth and space.”

    About Ocin J:

French electronic artist Ocin J is known for his immersive, genre-fluid soundscapes. He released Alive via Orange Machine in 2024 and co-composed three tracks for the album Joachim Garraud & Friends. His track The Box was featured on the educational platform Sawup in 2023.

    About Lynvy:

Belgium-based artist Lynvy began producing electronic music in mid-2024 and has since explored a fusion of Afro, electronic, and now Drum and Bass genres.
