Haitian-American artist Stephanie Saint-Come has released “Palpitations,” a song based on a poem by Haitian author Ronald Painson. Produced with Grammy Award-winning Jamaican-American producer Major Seven, the track combines Afrobeat and dancehall influences with a ballad structure.
Painson, who is originally from Pétion-Ville, Haiti, and now lives in Canada, wrote the poem about the physical and emotional response associated with falling in love at first sight. Stephanie Saint-Come initially understood the poem to be titled “Mon Corps,” or “My Body,” before learning that its actual title was “Palpitations.” The title refers to the racing heart and involuntary physical sensations described in the work and carries the same meaning in English and French.
The song’s accompanying visual was directed by Miami-raised filmmaker Gil Green. Its narrative uses an elevator sequence as a transition between the routine of working life and a heightened emotional state. The elevator set was constructed at Greynolds Park for the production.
Additional scenes were filmed at Miami’s Hurrem Hammam, where the setting of a Turkish bath provides the backdrop for the song’s exploration of fantasy and desire. Cinematographer Joe Labisi, ASC, filmed Stephanie Saint-Come in the location’s interior spaces.
“Palpitations” was released on September 11, 2026, and is available on streaming platforms.
