    Dolly Parton’s “Jolene” and “Coat of Many Colors” enter Spotify Nigeria chart after her death

    Dolly Parton’s music is seeing renewed interest in Nigeria following the country music icon’s death on August 25, with two of her classic songs appearing on Spotify Nigeria’s Daily Top Songs chart for the first time in her career.

    “Coat of Many Colors” debuted at No. 126 with 40,086 streams, while “Jolene” entered at No. 155 with 36,015 streams.

    Parton also made her first appearance on Spotify Nigeria’s Daily Top Artists chart, debuting at No. 42.

    The chart appearances come after Parton died at 80 following a brief battle with cancer. Her death prompted an international outpouring of tributes and renewed attention to her catalogue, including songs that have remained influential across generations.

    Released in 1971, “Coat of Many Colors” is one of Parton’s most personal songs, drawing from her childhood and her family’s financial struggles. “Jolene,” released in 1973, became one of her signature songs and has since been covered and reinterpreted by artists across different generations and genres.

    Their appearance on the Nigerian chart highlights the renewed reach of Parton’s catalogue following her death, extending beyond the country music audience that made her a global star.

    Tyla’s latest single “Chanel” has debuted at number 94 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking her third entry on the chart.

    Her previous entries include Water which peaked at number 7 and Push 2 Start at number 88.

    “Chanel” was released in October this year and climbed to the top of Bubbling Billboard Under Hot 100 and quickly gained 100 million streams on Spotify, becoming one of the fastest Afrobeats songs ever to do so. 

    The South African artist is the fourth most successful Afrobeats artist on the Billboard Hot 100 after Burna Boy, Tems and Wizkid.

    Asake Debuts on the Official French Singles Chart (SNEP) with “Badman Gangsta” Featuring Tiakola

    Asake’s latest single “Badman Gangsta” has debuted at number 41 on the Official French Singles Chart known as Syndicat National de l’Édition Phonographique (SNEP)

    He released the song as a surprise drop on July 24th.

    The song is Asake’s first collaboration with French rapper Tiakola who was also featured on Wizkid’s “Après Minuit” off his 2024 album Morayo

    Tyla’s latest single “Push 2 Start” is expected to debut at number 93 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming her second entry on the chart after viral hit, “Water”

    The reggae-infused Afrobeats and Amapiano hit, produced by Grammy winner, Sammy Soso showed signs of peaked at 12 on the Billboard Bubbling Under 100 100

     If the Billboard Hot 100 predictions come true, Tyla will join Tems, Wizkid and Burna Boy on the list of African artists with multiple entries on the chart.

    The South African Grammy winner has drawn comparisons to Beyonce and Rihanna since she was thrust into the spotlight in 2023 with “Water” with the BeyHive particularly critcising her for failing to acknowledge Beyonce’s influence on her music.

    Fans doubled down on the criticism after the video for “Push 2 Start” was released in November 2023.

    One of the scenes in the steamy video which now has over 42 million views on YouTube, shows Tyla dancing in front of a large fan, surrounded by back up dancers.

    Fans took to social media to point out similarities between the scene and that of Beyonce’s 2003 video for “Crazy in Love”
