Black Toffee, a virtual artist based in Lomé, Togo, has released “La mer me connaît,” an afro-soul song performed in French with a bridge in Ewe.
The song explores returning home after years away, using images of the sea, an empty chair kept by a mother and the experience of arriving with two suitcases. The track’s lyrics and music are credited to M. Katala, while the vocals and music are generated using artificial intelligence.
“La mer me connaît” is available on streaming platforms.
