  • Senegalese Artist FANIA Releases Self-Produced Album ‘L’EMPREINTE’

Senegalese Artist FANIA Releases Self-Produced Album ‘L’EMPREINTE’

Senegalese singer FANIA has released a new album titled L’EMPREINTE” (The Imprint), a self-composed and self-produced project that continues her blend of African rhythms, world music influences, and contemporary production styles.

The album positions itself as an introspective body of work, with FANIA describing her artistic identity as rooted in originality and independence. “I am the imprint of an artist. I will never be a copy, nor a robot,” she notes in her artistic statement, framing the project around themes of identity, spirituality, and personal expression.

    A multilingual and cross-genre approach

On L’EMPREINTE, FANIA moves across multiple languages including Wolof, Pulaar, Soninké, French, and English. This multilingual approach reflects her Senegalese background and broader intent to reach audiences beyond regional boundaries.

Musically, the album incorporates African instrumental influences with elements of world music and modern production textures. Rather than sticking to one genre, the project leans into a fusion style that prioritizes atmosphere and vocal delivery over commercial formatting.

    Production and recording

The album was recorded in Dakar at Pape Armand Boye’s studio before being mixed in Paris at Studio 180 by Arnaud Bascuñana.

The production credits highlight a collaborative but instrumentally grounded setup, featuring live musicians such as Stanway (piano), Jean Mermoz Deguénou (Rhodes), Sékou Diabaté (guitar), Alassane Cissé (bass), Laye Lô (drums), Thio Mbaye (percussion), and Milda (trumpet).

    A focus on artistic control

Unlike many mainstream releases, L’EMPREINTE is positioned as a fully artist-led project, with FANIA handling writing and composition herself.

As she continues to build her catalog, FANIA’s latest album adds to a growing body of work that sits between traditional African sounds and global music experimentation, without fully aligning to mainstream commercial Afrobeats structures.

  • Ghanaian- German Artist Giddens Shares New Single “We No Dey Play” off his Forthcoming Concept Album ‘FTM’

Ghanaian- German Artist Giddens Shares New Single “We No Dey Play” off his Forthcoming Concept Album ‘FTM’

Berlin-based artist Giddens returns with his new single “We No Play,” the first entry point into his upcoming concept album FTM.

“We No Play” is positioned as a defining statement rather than a standalone release.

The track captures cycles of pressure, resilience, and forward motion, introducing the central idea behind the album: that constant adaptation can sustain you, but also gradually dissolve a stable sense of self.

Rooted in experiences between Berlin and Accra, the single reflects themes of identity under pressure, emotional endurance, and the tension between self-preservation and belonging.

FTM builds on this foundation as a concept-driven project exploring fragmentation, diaspora, and emotional survival. Instead of a linear narrative, the album unfolds through layered fragments—like memory being continuously rewritten—mirroring the instability and repetition that shape modern identity.

“We No Dey Play” by Giddens is out now on all streaming platforms.

  • Lagos Based Collective Inestimable Releases Sophomore Project ‘Listen to the Music 2’

Lagos Based Collective Inestimable Releases Sophomore Project ‘Listen to the Music 2’

Inestimable is a Lagos based music collective focused on collaborative creation and building a shared platform for emerging artists. Their latest project, Listen to the Music 2, continues that approach.

The seven track release builds on their 2022 debut, Listen to the Music, which introduced a multi artist format designed to bring emerging voices into a shared creative space. The project went on to appear on Apple Music’s world albums charts across Nigeria, Botswana, Lithuania, and South Africa.

At the core of Inestimable is a structured way of working. Most of the collective’s records are created through recurring songwriting camps and studio sessions, where artists and producers collaborate in real time. From these sessions, only the strongest records are selected for release, allowing the group to maintain both consistency and quality while building a growing catalog.

Listen to the Music 2 features six tracks and one interlude, exploring themes of ambition, relationships, survival, and the search for opportunity. The project reflects everyday experiences of young people navigating life in Lagos. Sonically, it blends Afrobeats, street pop, and melodic rap, capturing the fluid sound shaping the city’s underground scene.

The project opens with the lead single 99 Problem, featuring Adam Srae, Jordanstyls, and Ntwyn, and sets the tone with direct storytelling and high energy production. Across the project, Inestimable brings together a mix of emerging voices and experienced contributors, including Grammy nominated producer Rugged. The collective also provides opportunities for emerging artists such as OD Vibes and Combo Wave to appear and contribute within the same creative ecosystem, reinforcing its focus on access and shared visibility.

In support of the release, Inestimable introduced Problem of the Day, a daily Substack series pairing short form visuals with everyday frustrations, extending the ideas within the music into a more immediate and relatable format.

With Listen to the Music 2, Inestimable continues to operate as a working model that challenges how music is created, selected, and released within emerging artist ecosystems.

Tiwa Savage and Don Julio Host Star-Studded Bash to Celebrate Her ‘This One Is Personal’ Album at the Library Lagos

Tiwa Savage and Don Julio tequila hosted a release party at swanky Lagos nightclub The Library to celebrate her new album This One Is Personal.

The album recently debuted at number one on the iTunes UK R&B/Soul Albums chart and #18 on the UK HipHop/R&B Albums chart.

I’ve loved Tiwa Savage since I first watched the “Kele Kele Love” in my uncle’s living room in Abuja in 2011 so when her team reached out to ask if I’d like to attend the event I was like of course!

Once at  The Library Lagos I was greeted by a beautiful young lady who offered me ice cold water and a Don Julio cocktail.

She asked me to knock on a tiny door and a hand reached out with my ice cold cocktail.

Once inside The Library Lagos the music was hitting and the performances were amazing but Tiwa Savage arrived about an hour later and the energy went from good to great.

She was joined by Taves, Shine TTW, her PR Manager Vanessa Amadi, Simi Badiru of TRACE and other members of her team.

We spent all night dancing to her songs- both classics like “Kele Kele Love” “Eminado” “Love Me”  “Diet” “Loaded” and new ones from the new album like “You4Me” “On The Low” “Holding It Down” and more and like the hypeman kept reminding us, it was hit after hit after hit.

Other celebrities like Uti Nwachukwu, Jay Jay Okocha Flavour N’Abania were also there to support her.

Tiwa Savage was in high spirits, as she danced and passed out shots of Don Julio around.

The night finally ended at around 4 am. I was so tired but I’d had the time of my life.

    A 10 over 10 night for real.

British Cypriot Artist A!MS Introduces a Fresh Genre with his New Album ‘Peak Season’ Featuring Julian Marley, Others

British Cypriot artist A!MS is introducing a fresh genre to the game with his new album Peak Season

Featuring Julian Marley, ArrDee, Ramz and more, the 9-track LP debuts A!MS’ new ‘Global Street’ sound, channeling the rebellious spirit of pirate radio while fusing it with his Mediterranean cultural roots and Cypriot/Lebanese/Italian DNA.

Global Street, or Street Global, “depending how street or how global you want it to sound” is a new genre for the outsiders, a sound identity for those beyond traditional industry definitions. Rooted in hip hop and UK garage, A!MS says “it’s built for the

creators of today – influencers, streamers, sneaker collectors, and more – and shaped by the idea that the next global star can come from anywhere. It’s a genre that breaks the limits others try to impose, where music is timeless, art is limitless, and the power is back in the hands of the people.”

Co-produced hitmaking duo Cool & Dre, the album also boasts productions credits from Antaeus, Michelin Shin, Golden and others

The project comes to life through a series of star-studded tracks; ‘Light & Love’, a collaboration with the iconic Julian Marley, Antaeus, and Hypertone, delivers a bold message of unity and upliftment. Another highlight is ‘Need Somebody’ with UK chart-topper ArrDee, oozing with infectious Afrobeat energy.

The Peak Season album was made in Cyprus, a place described by A!MS as a “music industry desert”. This gave A!MS space away from London’s hustle to find his own sound.

He describes it as his version of what Jamaica was for Bob Marley: a creative haven, free from noise and influence, where something truly global could be born.

In the build-up to the album this summer, A!MS is once again hosting a series of his hugely popular Wave Fests at WaterWorld WaterPark in A!MS’ current base of Ayia Napa in Cyprus. This year, revellers will be treated to sets by ‘Need Somebody’ feature artist ArrDee, Lil Pump, B Young, Dappy, Oxlade, Ramz, Wiley, ZieZie and A!MS himself. This unique multi-sensory event boasts The Biggest Sound System in the Mediterranean and has received TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Award.

  • Nigerian-American Afrobeats Singer Echezona Celebrates his Igbo Heritage on New Album “Ényì”

Nigerian-American Afrobeats Singer Echezona Celebrates his Igbo Heritage on New Album “Ényì”

Nigerian-American singer/songwriter Echezona, is celebrating his Igbo heritage on his new album, Ényì, released in April 2025.

Produced by frequent collaborator,  JPRiZM, the album delves into the core of the human experience, touching on themes of love, community, and self-discovery.

The word “enyi” means “friend” in the Igbo language of Nigeria. The Nigerian-American Echezona (Onwuama) is a multi-lingual singer, rapper, and songwriter who grew up in the Dorchester neighborhood of Boston.

Raised by Nigerian immigrant parents, Echezona is a Son of Africa and a Son of America. His artistry reflects his multicultural exposures and is a fusion of afrofusion, R&B, soul, hip hop, and afrobeat.
Fluent in lgbo (the native language of his parents), Echezona is a living embodiment of a blend of cultural influences. When growing up, Nigerian music played in his home while hip hop was his influence in the inner-city streets.

Echezona explains: “These 9 records come straight from the heart. They were written to feel like a friend sitting next to you, sharing stories of raw honesty and openness. Through these songs, we wanted to celebrate the strength and beauty of the everywoman, embrace the richness of African culture, and spark a sense of togetherness.

Echezona further explains the meaning behind “Flaws” as an example. “Flaws” is a testament to overcoming defeats and failures and accepting that no one can expect perfection, even oneself. Personally, I remember feeling horrible after flunking a driving test one day but after I got over the disappointment, I tried again and passed. That experience inspired me to write “Flaws”. We all have been there with something; all have had to face a shortcoming or some adversity. When we’re going through something like that, it can be tough. But eventually we need to uplift ourselves, and at times we all need to be uplifted by another. I just want to see everyone win at whatever they’re pursuing.”

Producer/collaborator JPRiZM elaborates about Ényì: “At their core, these records carry themes of love, community, and making a difference in each other’s lives. It’s about communicating with and feeling for one another. Ényì speaks to the joys and the challenges we face in life. Several years in the making, we’ve been creating and storing many songs in the vault. We just felt it was the right time now to release to the world what we’ve been creating. We’re pleased with the spectrum of music and storytelling that this album represents. There’s music to be enjoyed by everyone.”

Afrobeats Artist Adebayo Adiamo Releases the “Honey Baby” Album

Afrobeats artist Adebayo Adiamo, popularly known as 3A’s, has released a new album titled “Honey Baby.”

This album features four tracks that showcase Adebayo’s diverse musical talents and cultural influences.

The first one, “My African Queen,”  like 2 Baba’s 2004 hit of the same name, celebrates the beauty and richness of African culture, paying tribute to the inspirational women who embody its essence.

The second track, “Honey Baby,” highlights Adebayo’s ability to sing fluently in three languages: English, Spanish, and his native tongue.

This linguistic versatility stems from his ten years of experience living and studying in Spain, where he earned two master’s degrees in Business Innovation and Technology Management, as well as Tourism Management from the esteemed University of Girona.

During his time in Spain, Adebayo seamlessly blended his academic pursuits with his passion for music.

This academic journey and professional experience have profoundly shaped his artistry and approach to music.

The title track, “Koboko,” is the third track, serves as a poignant anthem that addresses the alarming trend of ignorance permeating various communities. It highlights the disturbing belief that taking the life of another human being is a pathway to financial gain. With powerful lyrics and a captivating melody, “Koboko” aims to spark conversations about morality, empathy, and the dire consequences of such misguided beliefs.

The fourth track on the album provides an intimate glimpse into Adebayo’s life experiences.

Titled [Destiny], it narrates the personal struggle between familial expectations and the pursuit of passion. Adebayo reflects on his mother’s dream for them to complete a PhD program, ultimately choosing to devote his life to music instead. This choice, perceived as a waste of time by some, reveals the artist’s dedication to his music and the importance of following one’s own path.

“I wanted to create an album that not only reflects my personal journey but also connects with listeners on multiple levels,” said Adebayo Adiamo. “Each song tells a story, and I aimed to incorporate different cultural elements and languages to reach a broader audience.”

  • Sadie Siegel Releases New Album ‘One Flushed Cheek’

Sadie Siegel Releases New Album ‘One Flushed Cheek’

Flushed cheeks usually come in pairs. Your cheeks sync up and fill with pigment, providing non-verbal bodily cues that your body temperature has been spiked by something: nerves, embarrassment, heat, arousal.

Their flush blows your social cover and broadcasts that what you want is near enough to touch.

When only one cheek flushes, this could be the result of a slap, self-administered or coming from someone who mo- mentarily lost their cool.

Or it is not at all about you or your body, but about the eyes of your beholder, affected by a form of myo- pic vision, a shortness of depth that only allows for one cheek to be seen at a time.

It may be just an anomaly, like a body without organs, a film without images, or a song that erases words and, in this way, generates waves of anti-climaxes that come exactly when they’re supposed to, as if according to the grid.

What is there to “pop” in a song that simultaneously has and doesn’t have lyrics, a song that ends before it finds its way to its hypothetical-yet-absent anthemic chorus, a song that while broody and loopy, still worms up into not one, but both of your ears?

These conceptual questions underlie “One Flushed

Cheek,” the newest album from Sadie Siegel, Seth Weiner’s music project and alter ego.

For over a decade now, Sadie Siegel & Seth Weiner have explored the sculptural qualities of sound, thinking of the latter as a tactile expression of material and an architectural act.

“One Flushed Cheek” is a continuation of this practice.

Some of the album’s songs bring the artist’s characteristically fleeting chants and recordings of his domestic life, blended with synthetically generated beats and vocal fragments.

At the same time though, with this new collection of compositions, the artist veers into a distinctly different creative place.

It’s the first album where. Sadie Siegel & Seth Weiner tackle conventional pop song. Structures through a series of simultaneous pushes and pulls, as if both resisting and succumbing to the music genre’s insistence on narrative language.

Sadie Siegel & Seth Weiner do not usually perform their music live, opting instead for creating an immersive, deep-listening ex- perience.

Imagining what form a physical record may take in a post-digital world, this project is set in the presentational form of a multimedia installation, accompanied by the album “give- aways,” i.e. the small, holdable textile sculptures pointing to a digital download of the songs and videos.

Each track has a video made by Rafał Morusiewicz, a visual artist and Weiner’s longtime friend.

The videos function less as a mere illustration of the album’s compositions, and more as an affective call-and-response to the endless creative-listening sessions that both artists had around the ephemeral and sculptural pop songs.

Compulsive and col- lage-based, Morusiewicz’s practice consists in engaging, through editing and digital image-manipulation technologies, with audio- visual material drawn from online-based film archives and shad- ow libraries, and mixing it with original footage, shot in ongoing collaboration with their life partner, Guilherme Maggessi.

The latter is the author of the album’s visual design and the producer of the ex- hibition’s setting, in which the project will be presented.

Weiner, in turn, has expanded the core album by compiling a companion piece, “B-Sides,” a distant cousin to the album, which forms a self-standing record. All these are the core components of “One Flushed Cheek.”
