Nigerian rapper A-Q has reported being attacked by a group of masked men in East Legon, Accra, Ghana, on October 17.

In a statement shared on X, the rapper said about ten men on five motorcycles surrounded him during a walk at around 10 p.m. He alleged that the men swung machetes at him, leaving him with injuries, including a blow to his elbow that he said was intended for his head.

“The riders tried to box me into a corner while the men on the back swung machetes at me. My elbow took a blow that was meant for my head,” he wrote.

A-Q said he managed to escape and was taken to Lister Hospital at Airport Hills Boulevard, where he underwent surgery and received treatment. He added that the incident had been reported to the Ghana Police Service and was under investigation. The rapper said he was now in a safe location.
“The attack has been reported to the Ghana Police Service and is being investigated. I am now in a safe place while the police work to establish who was behind it and why,” he said.

He also thanked the stranger who helped him get to the hospital and the medical staff who treated him. Reassuring fans and well-wishers about his condition, A-Q urged the public to avoid speculation about those responsible for the attack and asked anyone with relevant information to share it with the police.
