Nigerian rapper A-Q has reported being attacked by a group of masked men in East Legon, Accra, Ghana, on October 17.

In a statement shared on X, the rapper said the incident occurred at around 10 p.m. while he was out for a walk. According to A-Q, about ten masked men on five motorcycles surrounded him, with some swinging machetes at him.
“The riders tried to box me into a corner while the men on the back swung machetes at me. My elbow took a blow that was meant for my head,” he wrote.

A-Q said he managed to escape and was picked up by a passer-by who took him to Lister Hospital at Airport Hills Boulevard. He added that he was taken into surgery, where his injuries were treated.

“The attack has been reported to the Ghana Police Service and is being investigated. I am now in a safe place while the police work to establish who was behind it and why,” he said.

The rapper thanked the stranger who helped him reach the hospital, as well as the doctors and nurses who treated him. He also reassured fans about his condition, saying, “I am well by God’s grace.”
A-Q urged the public not to speculate about who was responsible for the attack or direct anger at anyone, asking anyone with relevant information to share it with the police.
