Dutch artist DARCY has released “Leave The Light On,” a dance-pop track about a father who struggles to let go when his daughter moves abroad.
The song follows a father who leaves a light on in his home every night after his daughter leaves to start a life elsewhere. Nine years later, her two sons ask him why the light is always on, prompting him to explain the promise behind the gesture. The story centres on family ties, separation and the reassurance of having a place to return to.
“Leave The Light On” combines acoustic guitar with electronic production, soulful male vocals and dance-oriented rhythms. The arrangement moves between melodic builds and darker, filtered drops.
DARCY, whose real name is Darcy Hoogenhout, is based in The Hague, Netherlands. He writes and produces his music using a combination of creative tools, including artificial intelligence.
