Der Stand Shares Deep House Single “Afraid of the Dark”

“Afraid of the Dark” is a deep house track by Der Stand, the experimental side project of French artist Graziano Tassi.

This atmospheric song explores the tension between fear and liberation, using darkness as both a source of anxiety and a transformative space. The track delves into the idea of being afraid of the dark, yet finding freedom and authenticity in its embrace.

The darkness, often seen as something to be feared, is presented here as a refuge. It disarms the ego and softens the defenses, allowing the heart’s true expression to emerge. On the dancefloor, the night becomes a space where vulnerability leads to freedom, encouraging genuine self-expression and connection.

With a deep, pulsing bassline, soulful vocals, and immersive atmospheric elements, “Afraid of the Dark” creates a hypnotic, emotional journey. The track invites listeners to embrace the unknown and connect with their true selves, making it perfect for both late-night club settings and intimate dancefloor experiences.

“Afraid of the Dark” is a powerful anthem for anyone who has danced through their fears, finding strength and authenticity in the shadows.

The song reflects the hardships, heartbreaks, and obstacles she has faced and continues to overcome. With Survivor, DiDi shares her journey of inner strength and determination, proving that she will never stop climbing until she reaches the top.

“Music is my life. I view my involvement with music as that of a marriage. It is something I will cherish forever. It’s my passion as well as my calling. I eat, sleep, breathe, walk, and live music,” says DiDi, an experienced and driven songwriter, vocalist, and recording artist with Nigerian roots, based in New York City.

From a young age, DiDi knew that music was her destiny. Growing up in Brooklyn, NY, in a family of eight, she was immersed in a household filled with music. According to her mother, DiDi began singing at just six months old, inspired by the legendary Whitney Houston and other influential artists whose music filled their home. Over time, DiDi honed her craft, first performing in her school choir before evolving into a powerhouse vocal performer with a distinctive voice. As an alto-soprano with a broad range, she writes deeply personal songs infused with emotion, blending modern sounds with danceable rhythms. Her music transcends genres, drawing inspiration from soul, pop, reggae, R&B, house, EDM, and Afrobeats.

“When I first heard Afrobeats, I got truly excited and felt this was my calling,” DiDi shares. Now, she is creating a buzz with her infectious Afrobeat singles and working on a full-length album.
