Oluwadamilola Blends Afrosoul, R&B, and Yoruba Influences on New Single “Mphasi”

Nigerian singer-songwriter Oluwadamilola returns with “Mphasi,” a track from her latest three-song EP that continues her exploration of Afrosoul, R&B, and Yoruba-inspired sounds.

Built around soulful melodies and contemporary African rhythms, “Mphasi” reflects Oluwadamilola’s ability to merge modern Afro-fusion with elements of Yoruba musical heritage. The song draws from the emotional depth and melodic traditions often found in Yoruba music, while incorporating the smooth vocal textures and contemporary production associated with Afrosoul and R&B.

The release follows years of steady output from the Nigerian artist, who first introduced her sound with the 2016 singles “Durotimi” and “Instagram Love.” Since then, she has expanded her discography with projects including Go Time (2022), Akoringbade (2024), and Muji (2026), alongside singles such as “Kawasaki” and “Stamina.”

Known for blending Afrosoul, R&B, and Fuji influences, Oluwadamilola’s music reflects a connection to Yoruba culture while exploring personal expression through contemporary African sounds. Her catalogue highlights an approach that bridges traditional Nigerian musical elements with modern songwriting and production.
