Detroit-based electronic artist, writer and producer jcSubterfuge has released “Awake…,” a jungle track built around breakbeats, deep sub-bass and atmospheric electronic textures.
The production uses chopped Amen break samples, minimalist synths and heavy bass frequencies, shifting between slower atmospheric passages and faster percussion. The arrangement draws on jungle and breakbeat traditions while incorporating contemporary electronic production.
jcSubterfuge’s wider sound combines electronic production with live instrumentation and everyday sounds recorded from the surrounding environment, which the artist describes as the “natural metronome.” The project also explores music as a way of connecting people across different backgrounds and experiences.
“Awake” is available on streaming platforms.
