Ugandan artist and producer Its_theonlyjj and Nigerian singer, songwriter and producer Philobells have released the new single “Back To The Capital.”
The track combines Afrobeats, Afropiano and electronic African influences, with Philobells drawing on themes of personal growth, knowledge and self-discovery.
Philobells, who also works as a researcher in academia, said his experiences studying and searching for knowledge have influenced the way he understands himself and the world around him. He also described music as an important part of his upbringing and as a medium that can affect emotions and bring healing.
The collaboration began after Its_theonlyjj created the beat and sent it to Philobells. Philobells then wrote and recorded the vocals, incorporating his experiences and reflections into the song.
Its_theonlyjj handled production and beatmaking, while Nothingbutthemix mixed and mastered the track. “Back To The Capital” was released on September 11, 2026.
